Callaway had a late addition to the schedule to prepare for the upcoming region tournament. The Cavaliers battled East Coweta on their home court and got a hard fought 46-35 win.

The Cavaliers had to grind out the win with the offense struggling to get going early. Callaway trailed 13-8 after the first quarter and struggled to hit free throws, missing five total in the opening eight minutes of the game.

The Cavaliers defense buckled down from there and only allowed four points in the second quarter which allowed the Cavaliers to take a 20-17 lead into the halftime break.

The Cavaliers defense continued to stifle East Coweta but the Cavaliers could only score seven points of their own in the third quarter as the lead remained at three heading into the final quarter.

Lacey Thomas took over the game in the fourth quarter where she scored nine of her game-high 17 points. She had help from friends as five different Cavaliers combined for 21 points in the fourth quarter to close out the game in style.

Jailyn Baker was second on the team with nine points while Tra’Niyah Mitchell, who continues to blossom in her freshman year, was third on the team, with eight points.

Malaysia Parham has played sparingly this season but offered a spark for the Cavaliers with seven points.Aniyah McFarland finished with three points while Raniya Mahone was kept quiet with just two points to her name.

Callaway improved to 14-6 overall after the win and will now be able to ride a win into the region tournament instead of a loss. The Cavaliers finished third in the region 5-2A standings and will be back in action in the region tournament against a yet to be announced opponent.
