Callaway made no mistakes in its 73-30 demolition of McNair on Monday to lock up a playoff spot and earn a spot in the semifinals of the region tournament.

The Cavaliers put the game to bed early and dominated the first quarter, taking a 26-7 lead after the opening eight minutes. DeShun Coleman came out of the gates red hot and scored nine of his 14 points in the first quarter.

The offense slowed down tremendously in the second quarter as the lead stayed at 19 heading into halftime (37-18).

The offense picked back up in the third quarter as the Cavaliers were able to capture a 59-27 lead heading into the final quarter which was trimmed to six minutes because of Callaway’s 30+ point lead.

The scoring was spread around the entire roster for the Cavaliers. Eleven different players scored in the game for Callaway as coach Andre Johnson was able to deploy his reserves and get some players some valuable minutes while getting his starters some much needed rest. While Coleman was the leading scorer, fellow guard Tyrus Edwards finished with 13 points and sparked the offense all night. D’Arcy Harris has improved as the season has gone along and finished with 11 points on Monday. Bryceton Sanders is another one of those players that has seen his role grow as the season has gone along, scoring nine against McNair.

The Cavaliers will play in the semifinals of the region tournament at Columbia High School on Wednesday as they take on Redan at 8:30.
