On Tuesday, the LaGrange City Council discussed a Board of Planning and Zoning Appeals recommendation on a request to rezone three parcels on Whiteline St. and Kissler St. from Traditional Neighborhood Residential (TN-R) and Corridor Mixed Use (CR-MX) to Traditional Neighborhood Mixed Use (TN-MX).
The applicant has proposed a mixed-use development on the three-acre property, which would consist of a cottage court-style development, along with commercial out parcels, said City Planner Mark Kostial.
Kostial said the development would be consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan, which allows for single-family residential, mixed-use and neighborhood commercial.
Planning and Zoning Appeals unanimously recommended the zoning change, Kostial said.
The property in question is located between Whiteline St. and Kissler St. near Jabaley’s Paint & Appliance store.
A motion to call for a public hearing on March 14 for the zoning change was unanimously approved. The change could be approved as soon as the March 28 council meeting.
In other business, the LaGrange city council:
4 Voted to deny and forward to insurance a claim for damages filed on behalf of Eric McCants
4 Held a public hearing and first reading for a Board of Planning and Zoning Appeals recommendation to revise the city’s Thoroughfare Design Standards
4 Held a public hearing and first reading for a Board of Planning and Zoning Appeals recommendation on a request to rezone five parcels located on Tom Hall Pkwy from Activity Center Mixed Use (AC-MX) to Activity Center Mixed Use (AC-MX)
4 Held a public hearing to receive comments on an amendment to the Character Area Map in the city’s Comprehensive Plan for a parcel on Whitesville Rd. for the previously approved Tax Allocation District #6. Immediately following the public hearing, the amendment was unanimously approved by the council.
No one from the public spoke for or against the measures at all three of the public hearings.
