Despite putting up a tough fight, the LaGrange girls basketball team saw its season end in the region tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 44-28 loss to Trinity Christian.
This was the third loss of the season against the Lions, but the Grangers put up more of a fight this time with their season on the line.
The Grangers came out of the gate on fire, outscoring the Lions 15-11 in the first quarter. This was in large part due to Nina Brooks and Brittney Heard, who scored six and five points in the first quarter respectively.
The Granger offense stalled in the second quarter, only scoring three points on an Adrianna Kendricks 3-pointer, which led to the game being tied at 18 going into the halftime break.
The Lions completely controlled the second half as the Grangers offense bottomed out, scoring just 10 total points over the final two quarters.
The Grangers had no answers for Julia Susla, who scored 23 points while connecting on five 3-pointers in the game. She completely took over in the second half, scoring 16 points in the last 16 minutes.
The scoring was spread around for the Grangers with Heard leading the team with seven points. Seven other Grangers scored in the game with Brooks being second on the team with six points.
LaGrange finished the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 7-19.
