LHS boys tennis wins fifth match in a row to start the season, girls drop second in a row

The LaGrange boys and girls tennis teams returned to action on Monday against Central Carrollton. The girls lost their second match in a row with the boys stretching out their winning streak to five to start the 2023 season. 

The girls lost 4-1 while the boys pulled off a dramatic 3-2 win. 

Girls Individual Results:

No. 1 Singles: Emily Jones (CC) defeated Sophie Nix (LG) 3 – 6, 6 – 4, 11 – 9

No. 2 Singles: Lauren Burgess (LG) defeated Hannah Hembree (CC) 3 – 6, 6 – 3, 11 – 9

No. 3 Singles: Ella Robinson (CC) defeated Alisa Lee (LG) 6 – 0, 4 – 6, 10 – 8

No. 1 Doubles: Addison Denney and Mary Lois Griffis (CC) defeated Minchae Kim and

Abby Grace Kornek (LG) 6 – 4, 4 – 6, 10 – 7

No. 2 Doubles: Ellie Robinson and Kendall Busby (CC) defeated Ana Rollings and Anna

Claire Lumpkin (LG) 6 – 4, 6 – 2

Boys Individual Results:

No. 1 Singles: Wesley Minicozzi (LG) defeated Ian Gimenzi (CC) 7 – 5, 6 – 2

No. 2 Singles: Ty Thomas (CC) defeated Noah Black (LG) 6 – 1, 6 – 4

No. 3 Singles: Henry Huberdeau (LG) defeated Cade Thomas (CC) 3 – 6, 6 – 2, 10 – 4

No. 1 Doubles: Towson Partin and Greg Terry (LG) defeated Logan Lovvorn and Brock

McWhorter (CC) 6 – 2, 7 – 5

No. 2 Doubles: Charles Kuntz and Avery Williamson (CC) defeated Kevin Park and

Benjamin Lee (LG) 6 – 4, 2 – 6, 10 – 4

The girls are now 3-2 on the season while the boys improved to a flawless 5-0. The Grangers will be back on the courts on Tuesday away to Brookestone.
