On Tuesday, Sweetland Amphitheatre announced the first drop of its 2023 KIA Concert Series.

The first drop includes performances from Jeff Foxworthy, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tracy Byrd with Jo Dee Messina and Tamela Mann.

Foxworthy, a Georgia native, will perform April 29, bringing his comedic touch to the stage at Sweetland. Four-time Grammy award winner Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will perform at Sweetland on June 22. Country music artists Tracy Byrd and Jo Dee Messina are set for a show July 21. Mann, a gospel singer, is scheduled for a Sweetland show Aug. 5.

Brent Gibbs, general manager of Sweetland said this year’s acts are going to be diverse and will include more comedians.

“The success of Ron White has awakened our appetite for programming comedy at Sweetland,” Gibbs said. “I think that’s also indicative of what we’d like to do more of in the future. We definitely have our eye on great comedians, who we think will be a great fit for the LaGrange community.”

In getting national acts like Mann and Foxworthy, Gibbs said this is only the beginning of what is to come.

“We are passionate about pursuing the best for our community. This is just the beginning, and there’s going to be more great national talent coming to Sweetland,” Gibbs said. “We hope that people are excited about not only what we have released so far but what we’re going to release in the future.”

Gibbs said the next drop of upcoming performances will come out in early March.

He said it’s important that the amphitheater tries to schedule a multitude of genres.

“We’re going to go all the way from R&B and hip-hop to bluegrass,” Gibbs said. “Our community is big, and we want to offer diverse styles. We’re always thinking about what artists fare well with other artists and what kinds of sentiments and themes we see within our community.”

Gibbs said this year’s concert series will have something for everyone.

“We’re going to cover a lot of genres and a lot of generations. We’re going to have stuff for the older members of our community, the young members of our community, and I’m excited about this next announcement of shows,” Gibbs said.

General admission tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Those who are VIP email subscribers will get early access Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10 AM.
