Friday night under the lights of Callaway Stadium was the Luis Merida show. He scored a hat-trick to lead Troup to an impressive 3-1 win over Central Carrollton.
Merida took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored the first goal on an audacious chip from 30-yards out that cannoned over the crossbar and off the goalie and rolled into the net with less than a minute off the clock.
Not content with that, he pulled off a chip from even deeper range less than 10 minutes later that nicked the crossbar on its way into the back of the net.
It was a sensational first half performance from Merida, who breezed by defenders and directed traffic at will.
He finished off his night with a goal in the second half to confirm the hat-trick.
Chris Moore was a brick wall at the back and kept Central from causing much trouble to the Tiger goal.
The only goal the Tigers conceded was on an errant back pass.
Troup improved to 3-0-1 on the season and has now rattled off three wins in a row after an opening night 0-0 draw. The Tigers will be back on the pitch on Tuesday when they host Griffin.
