The LaGrange Daily News’ comics page isn’t going anywhere after all.

Thanks to a partnership with Community Bank & Trust, the tradition of printing a comics page will continue in the LDN.

“Traditions and communities go hand in hand and reading the comics each day is a tradition that many of us in the LaGrange community share,” said Steve Jefferies, president and CEO of Community Bank & Trust. “As LaGrange’s community bank, we’re thrilled to partner with LaGrange’s community newspaper to continue this enjoyable tradition.”

The LaGrange Daily News will continue to publish comics, crosswords and sudoku puzzles in its print editions on Wednesday and Saturday. Comics pages will not be a part of e-editions going forward.

LDN publisher Daniel Evans had previously announced in a column on Feb. 18 that the comics page would cease to exist as of March 1 due to rising costs. However, in the days that followed Community Bank & Trust committed to advertising that will allow the page continue.

“We are thankful to have a community partner like Community Bank & Trust, who stepped up quickly and ensured we could continue publishing a comics page,” said LDN President and Publisher Daniel Evans. “Without their contribution, there would not be a comics page in future LaGrange Daily News editions. Thanks to the bank’s help, readers will get to continue enjoying one of their favorite parts of the newspaper.”
