The Troup County School System is releasing school two hours early today due to severe weather threatening the area between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. this afternoon.
Elementary will dismiss at 12:20 p.m. Secondary (Middle and High Schools) normally dismiss between 3:15 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. Those dismissal times will be moved up by exactly two hours.
All elementary extra-curricular activities and ACE programs will be canceled. Parents, please contact your principals if you have any issues with picking up your student. All after-school activities at the secondary level will be up to the individual schools and principals as they monitor weather conditions.
“Due to the timing of this inclement weather approaching Troup County between 3 and 5 o clock, we decided to dismiss schools two hours early to get students home safely,” said Superintendent Brian Shumate. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we try to do what’s best to ensure student safety.”
