Callaway wins 13-goal thriller behind hat trick from Vaughn

Goals on goals on goals.
It was not how the Callaway boys soccer team envisioned Tuesday going, but the Cavaliers were able to escape Eagle’s Landing with an 8-5 win.
The all important sixth goal came from Connor Davis in the 61st minute. The game was full of dramatics with a couple of goals from Rickey Vaughn and Nelson Herrea in the 78th and 79th sealing the win as the game was in the balance in the final minutes as the Cavaliers clung to a 6-5 lead. Vaughn, just a freshman, continues to shine in his first year at Callaway, scoring a hat trick on the night and providing an assist as well. Senior leader Herrera scored two goals and provided two assists.
Journee Jordan and Greyson Batchelor each scored a goal and provided an assist in the game. Davis and Eli Jones also provoked an assist apiece in the game.
Brayden Morris made six saves to help preserve the win for Callaway.
Callaway is now 7-4 overall and 2-1 in region play. The Cavaliers will have a critical region game against Landmark Christian at home on Friday.
