The golf season is in full swing for the LaGrange boys who, coming off a strong showing in the Grangers Shootout on Monday, were right back on the fairways and greens Tuesday for the Brookstone Invitational.
The Grangers finished ninth out of 14 teams, and it was truly a tight leaderboard. The Grangers finished a single stroke behind Blessed Trinity and one stroke ahead of Woodward Academy. LaGrange finished only 10 strokes behind Harris County for a top-5 finish and were five strokes behind Columbus in sixth place.
On a different day, the Grangers might have finished higher, but they had to settle for a ninth place finish with a couple of their top golfers unavailable — Ty Ormsby and Grady Westmoreland.
Freshman Saxon Chastain continued to impress for the Grangers in his first season and led the team in scoring with a 78 overall. He was joined on Tuesday’s five man lineup by two fellow freshmen Hugh Kersey and Charlie Pitts who shot 83 and 98 respectively. Ben Woodham shot 85 and Jackson Dennis show 87 to complete the lineup for the Grangers.
The Grangers next tournament is on March 20 at the Lowndes Viking Classic.
