It was light work for the Callaway baseball team on Thursday as they dispatched McNair 18-0 in just 2.5 innings played.

The Cavaliers scored a whopping 11 runs in the first inning before adding another seven in the second to put the game out of reach early.

The pitching was outstanding for the Cavaliers with Slade Hunt and Landon Alsobrook combining to pitch a no-hitter. Hunt pitched two innings, striking out five batters while Alsobrook saw one inning of work and struck out a batter. Hunt was also a force offensively going 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Vince Williams stole the headlines by legging out an inside-the-park home run to start off the second inning. He finished the game 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk.

Houston Wilson put together one of his best stat lines of the season, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored. Lashun Gates also had an impressive offensive showing, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Julian Dukes had a cool three RBIs and two runs scored.

Blake Sheppard, Garrett Huckleberry, Blake Harrington, Wesley Williams and Dukes all had a hit apiece in the game.

Callaway bounced back nicely after losing a key region game on Wednesday. The Cavaliers just wrapped four games in four days by going 3-1 with their only loss a 3-0 region game to Eagle’s Landing that could have gone either way.

Callaway is now 12-5 on the season and 6-2 in region play. The Cavaliers will have another important region clash on Tuesday when they host Landmark Christian.
