The Troup County schools will not close due to the severe storm that hit Troup County Sunday morning.
The Troup County School System is currently working to ensure students have transportation to school, especially for West Point Elementary, where they are working on alternative routes.
Several roads in the 7800 block of West Point Rd. are still blocked due to significant damage from the tornado that hit Sunday morning.
“As soon as we have those routes, it will be communicated to parents at West Point, Troup High School and the Long Cane Schools,” said TCSS Public Relations Director Irisha Goodman.
Goodman said information will be sent to parents either by their notification system or through social media.
“Right now, what we’re working on is the alternative routes to make sure we get the kids to school,” Goodman said.
Goodman said at this time they do not expect to have to delay the start of school on Monday.
Parents without access to social media or the TCSS notification system are asked to contact their school directly for updates.
