The Callaway baseball team had trouble getting anything going against region leader Redan at home on Tuesday, losing 3-0. The Cavaliers were a Julian Dukes single in the bottom of the fifth from being on the wrong side of a no-hitter.
The Cavaliers offense really struggled to get going with Bryce Hubbard, Landon Alsobrook, and CJ Stephens all garnering a walk apiece to give the home team a little offense on the evening.
It was no fault of Hubbard’s that the Cavaliers could not win as he had an impressive showing on the mound, throwing a complete game. He struck out 13 batters on seven hits and only two of the runs scored by Redan were earned.
It was a tough afternoon for the Cavaliers, who were a few hits away from being in the game against one of the favorites in AA this season.
Callaway is now 13-7 overall and 7-4 in region play. The Cavaliers have locked up a playoff spot and will be on the road in the opening round of the AA state playoffs. Callaway will play its final region game on Thursday in a rematch against Redan on the road.
