Callaway went toe to toe with region leader Redan on the road on Thursday but took a 6-3 loss after letting an early lead slip away.

The Cavaliers jumped on Redan early with three runs in the top of the first. Lashun Gates broke the deadlock when he scored on a bases loaded balk from the pitcher. CJ Stephens hit a sacrifice fly to drive in another run while Bryce Hubbard scored on an error to make it 3-0.

Redan chipped into the Callaway lead with two runs in the third before taking the lead with four runs in the fourth.

The Cavaliers could not get the offensive going again after a bright start to the game. Julian Duke and Hubbard had the only Callaway hits in the game.

Brantin Swanson got the start on the mound and went three innings before Stephens took over in relief.

Callaway is now 13-8 overall and wrapped region play with a 7-5 region record. The Cavaliers will enter the playoffs as a four seed and will be on the road. Callaway still has non-region regular season games on the docket including an away game against Handley on Friday.
