On Friday, Sunny Point Bait & Tackle held its grand opening.

The grand opening welcomed guests with free raffles, breakfast, giveaways and up to fifty cents off a gallon of gas.

Manny Singh, general manager, said they are excited about their grand opening and are glad to be in the location.

“We appreciate the support that we’ve received from the community. Even though we have been open a few months, we wanted to make sure everything was right before we did a grand opening,” Singh said. “We are thankful to the local community, the bankers, our employees and, of course, our family members for helping make this successful.”

Along with being a gas station, Sunny Point Bait & Tackle offers a variety of fishing supplies ranging from fishing rods, live bait, fishing lures and more.

“We are a little different because we are surrounded by the lake, and we have many people coming from neighboring towns like Carrollton, Atlanta, and Columbus,” Singh said. “We have a lot of fishing tackle, bait, live minnows, worms and other equipment a fisherman may need. Plus, we have our restaurant, NY Pizza, so they can have everything in one area.”

Singh said he felt like an all-in-one bait and tackle shop was needed in the community and felt being located by West Point Lake was the best place to be.

He also said the restaurant will serve breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. every day and NY Pizza will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“We’re hoping we’ll be able to open the restaurant completely, but right now we have pizza and wings and some specials as we get more business,” Singh said.

For Singh, this isn’t his first business, but he said as far as success, this location has been number one.

“It has gotten very successful quickly, and we are really glad to be here. Truly, thank you to the local community for supporting us and the Troup County Planning Department for letting us set a store up here,” Singh said. “Other stores take a little longer to get the business we have up here, but this has been a home run for us.”

Singh said he plans to expand more and is open to getting involved more with local charities and organizations.

“Since we’re making some money up here, we’d like to put it back into the community,” Singh said. “We have other plans to expand and offer more services but for now we aim to open the kitchen open full-fledged.”

Sunny Point Bait & Tackle is located at 3278 Mooty Bridge Rd.
