LaGrange Academy’s Prem Kamat put together a terrific individual tennis season this year. Kamat, just a sophomore, made it all the way to the GISA Class A semifinals where he fell to senior Brooks Tucker from Westbrook in two sets. It was the first loss of the season for Kamat, who went on a tear during his sophomore year.
“Super proud of how he completed all year this year,” coach Ken Klinger said. “He has really improved from last year to this year, and I can’t wait to see what he does in the coming years.”
Kamat won the opening match of the individual playoffs in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-1 before earning a spot in the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-3 two-set victory over Graham Harrod from Crisp Academy.
Kamat already got his hands on some hardware when he took home the individual trophy for winning the region while. He was also the no. 1 singles player on the Warriors team that claimed the team region championship as well.
Kamat’s run is not quite over yet. The Warriors boys tennis team will be heading to Macon for the team state playoffs on April 25 and 26.
