The LaGrange boys golf team traveled down to Thomaston and returned with some hardware in tow as they won the Jim Hickman Memorial tournament.
It was a stableford format tournament with a point system awarded for eagles, birdies, etc. The Grangers put up a score of 161 with host Upson-Lee finishing in second with 152.
Freshman Saxon Chastain finished as the low player in the tournament, shooting a 2-under 70, eight strokes lower than the second place finisher. Chastain also scored the most points with 56 (two eagles, three birdies, eight pars, and five bogeys).
Fellow Grangers Ben Woodham and Hugh Kersey finished tied for third with a 79.
LaGrange combined to shoot 318, eleven strokes lower than second place Upson Lee and 22 over third place Pike County.
This served as a nice tune-up and confidence boost for LaGrange who will host the Area 1-AAAA tournament at Highland Country Club on Thursday with the top three finishers booking a spot in the state playoffs.
