Stephen Randy Ogles, Sr., known to friends and family as Randy, passed away surrounded by his family in Valley, Alabama on May 1, 2023, at the age of 71.  

Born on Feb. 15, 1952, in LaGrange, Georgia, Randy was the son of the late Billy and Kate Ogles. 

He was a loving father, brother, Papa and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and passion for life.

Randy was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor and dedication. After his military service, he pursued his love for automobiles and motorcycles. 

A true Alabama fan, Randy enjoyed cheering on his favorite team and sharing the excitement of the game with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children, Rebecca Sue; his nephew, Lawrence Nix; and his longtime friend Durward Day. 

He is survived by his sister, Deborah Herndon (Dennis); his sons, Stephen Ogles (Jennifer) and William Ogles; several grandchildren and great-nieces, and his longtime friends Captain, Joey, and Red, all of whom he loved dearly and who will cherish his memory.

Randy was a devoted father, always supporting his sons in their endeavors and encouraging them to pursue their passions. He instilled in them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and the value of family. 

His love for his children was evident in the strong bond they shared, and his memory will live on through them.

As a brother, Randy shared a special connection with his sister Deborah. They shared many adventures and memories together, and their bond remained strong throughout their lives. 

Randy’s love for his family extended to his nephews, and he played an important role in their lives, offering guidance, support, and love.

Randy’s love for cars and motorcycles was a significant part of his life, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and passion with others. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and attending car shows, where he made many friends who shared his interests. Randy’s enthusiasm for life and his love for his hobbies were contagious, inspiring those around him to embrace their own passions.

A loyal and dedicated friend, Randy will be remembered for his warm smile, his infectious laugh, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. 

He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help others, and his generosity and kindness will be missed by all who knew him.

Randy was a longtime member of several Veteran, automotive and motorcycle associations, where he formed lasting friendships and connections. His involvement in these groups not only allowed him to share his love for automobiles and motorcycles, but also to give back to his community through charitable events and initiatives.

In his later years, Randy found joy in spending time with his grandchildren, sharing stories of his life and passing on his wisdom and love for life. He enjoyed watching them grow and took pride in their accomplishments, always eager to celebrate their successes and offer encouragement during challenging times. 

Randy’s love for his family and his zest for life will be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we celebrate the life of Stephen Randy Ogles, we remember a man who was deeply loved and admired by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held on Tuesday at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley at 11 A.M. EDT.  

A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at 12:30 P.M. EDT. 

His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 A.M. EDT until 11 A.M. EDT. 

Afterwards, we will honor Randy’s life with friends and family who are all invited to share stories of the love, laughter, and joy he brought to those who knew and loved him, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
