A LaGrange man was arrested Sunday for allegedly kidnapping a man — then demanding money for that man’s release — and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release.

Justin Deshun Cameron, 33, was charged with kidnapping, strong-arm robbery and two counts of terroristic threats (felony) for an incident that started Sunday on Snelson Street.

Cameron pulled up to a house on Snelson Street and got into a vehicle uninvited and told the driver that if he knew what was good for him, he’d drive. Cameron allegedly told the driver to take him to the location of Cameron’s ex-girlfriend. The driver knew that the ex-girlfriend was afraid of Cameron due to a previous aggravated assault, false imprisonment arrest where Cameron was arrested and spent time in prison. Therefore, he refused to drive to her location.

Cameron then demanded the driver called the ex-girlfriend. According to the press release, once on the phone, Cameron threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and demanded money to have the driver released.

The ex-girlfriend told police that she sent Cameron $200.

Cameron then demanded he be taken back to his vehicle on Snelson Street.

The driver told police he drove Cameron around for 30 minutes and reasonably believed Cameron had a gun.

Cameron was arrested by LPD Sunday morning. He was on felony probation at the time of this incident.
