The City of LaGrange is seeking to sell 61.71 acres of surplus property off of Big Springs Road and South Davis Road.
The subject property consists of irregular-shaped, non-corner parcels north of Big Springs Rd. and west of Interstate 85 in LaGrange.
The tract is made up of three parcels identified as Parcels 0380 000001A (12.32 acres), 0393 000022 (40 acres) and 0393 000022A (8.39 acres).
The land is currently wooded with no improvements and is zoned CR-MX (Corridor Mixed Use).
The disposition of the property was discussed by the LaGrange City Council during an executive session on Tuesday morning.
Assistant City Manager Bill Bulloch said the city has owned the property for many years and does not currently have plans for it.
Bulloch said he was not immediately aware of how the city came to own the property.
The city engaged appraisers General Valuation Services, LLC to determine a fair market value for the property. As of April 25, the property was determined to be valued at $2,550,000.
During the subsequent council meeting on Tuesday night, the council unanimously voted to declare the property as surplus and move forward with accepting bids for the property.
The minimum bid will be set at the appraisal price of $2.55 million.
