The Troup County Cattlemen’s Association (TCCA) presented two 1,000 scholarships to a pair of Troup High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students during their May meeting.
Troup High FFA students Rosie McGibney and Owen Everingham were each presented with $1,000 scholarships during the TCCA meeting on Tuesday night.
TCCA President Ken Cadenhead said the group decided to start the scholarship program in January. Cadenhead said they originally intended to only give one scholarship, but both applications they received were good, so they decided to give it to both.
He said they plan to continue the scholarship next year as well. The funds for the scholarships were raised from within the local group.
Cadenhead said the only requirement for the scholarship is for the students to be going into an agricultural school or an agricultural program.
The scholarships are for students who want to pursue any type of farming activity, not just raising cattle, Cadenhead said.
