Police have identified the “former” Troup County School System employee accused of inappropriate physical contact with a student at Clearview Elementary.
LaGrange Police Department reports from the incident have identified the suspect as Tracy Lynn Morris, 39.
The school system referred to the suspect as a “former employee” in the press release on Tuesday, but did not identify her, saying it was not at liberty to discuss the situation any further because it is a personnel matter and to protect the identity of the student involved.
Police Sgt. Brian Brown did not elaborate on the details of the incident but said they found probable cause to issue a warrant for her arrest for simple battery. Morris turned herself in at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, May 19.
The school system said in the press release on Tuesday that an undisclosed paraprofessional at Clearview Elementary had been arrested after allegedly having inappropriate physical contact with a student. The school began investigating the incident after receiving a report from a parent.
The incident is alleged to have occurred with an 8-year-old male student in the opportunities room at the school.
TCSS reported the incident to law enforcement and is cooperating with LPD as they continue to investigate the incident.
