Jon Birkeli, 82, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away on March 30, 2023, at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange with his family was by his side.  

He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a brilliant, kind and honest man, who adored his family, loved his friends and was immensely proud of his students. 

 He taught thousands of business students over the course of his 31-year career at LaGrange College and always enjoyed hearing back from them about their ventures and exploits in life. 

At heart, Jon was a quiet and humble man; he was wise and generous, a man of integrity who stood firm in his beliefs and whose counsel was sought by many.  He enjoyed the simpler things in life— nature, reading, music, a good glass of wine and (in the old days) a nice pipe. 

He was happiest in the companionship of his soulmate of 56 years, Kay, and the exploits and adventures of his two children, Paul and Kristin, and their families. 

In remembrance of Jon, a memorial service will be held at the LaGrange College Chapel on June 10, 2023, at 11 A.M. to honor and celebrate the life of this wonderful man.
