It was another perfect evening for baseball at the George Harris baseball complex on Thursday and the Bulls put in the work to earn their first win of the season, knocking off the Space Cowboys 11-3.

The Bulls poured it on early and never looked back. Caleb McCurry scored on an error in the top of the second to give the Bulls an early lead. Chance Lester singled to drive in a pair of runs in the same inning and just like that the Bulls led 3-0.

It only got better from there for the Bulls as they scored four runs in the third to take a commanding lead. Jesse Dodgen walked with the bases loaded to drive in the first run of the inning followed by a Caleb sacrifice fly and a Brandon McCurry two-RBI single.

The Space Cowboys got on the board on a Noah Weiss RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bulls answered right back with four runs in the top of the fifth to take an 11-1 lead. The Space Cowboys added a consolation run in each of the fifth and sixth innings but could not get back in the game.

The Bulls had no players with multiple hits but received consistent offense from across the board. Colton Webb, Dodgen, Caleb, Brandon, Cory Matticola, Todd Sauls, Jack Webb, and Lester all had a hit apiece. The Bulls also drew six walks and five hit by pitches as they used all the tools to get on base.

Colton, Curtis Grant, Matticola and Dodgen all saw time on the mound for the Bulls.

The Space Cowboys offense was led by Kaleb White, Wyatt Frailey and Hunter Mowers who all had two hits apiece. W Scott, Matt Nixon and Weiss all had a hit each.

Hayden Morgan, Jaxon Hancock and Walt Taylor all saw time on the mound with Taylor getting the lion’s share of work with three innings.

The Bulls are now 1-1 on the season and will be back on the diamond on Tuesday against the Royals (0-2). The Space Cowboys (1-1) will play the Cubs (2-0) next Thursday.
