UPDATED: Body recovered after drowning incident at Lake Jimmy Jackson

UPDATE: The body of a swimmer who went underwater and didn’t resurface was recovered Thursday night in Hogansville, according to Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley and the Hogansville Police Department.

The man was identified as Markel Talley, 20. Talley was pronounced deceased at 10:45 p.m., approximately five minutes after his body was pulled from Lake Jimmy Jackson.

Talley had relocated to Georgia earlier this week, Hackley said.

Efforts are underway to recover a 20-year-old Mississippi man who went under water at Lake Jimmy Jackson in Hogansville Thursday night and never resurfaced, according to Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley.

Hackley said the call came in at 8:05 p.m. to 911. She said at this point it is a recovery mission.

Hackley said the Troup County Sheriff’s Office currently is on the scene, as is the Hogansville Police Department. The Columbus Dive Team will be on scene soon.
