Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Troup’s Qua Birdsong is on the move. After de-committing from the University of Cincinnati last month, Birdsong has landed on his new destination, the University of Central Florida. The senior linebacker will be joining two fellow Tiger alumni at UFC as former Troup wide receivers Buddy Wortham and Kobe Hudson have taken their talents to Orlando.

Birdsong — a four star recruit and the 373th ranked player in the 2024 class by 274sports — will be one of the prized recruits of Gus Malzahn’s 2024 class. The Knights have gone 18-9 in their two seasons under Malzahn’s leadership.

Despite playing in just 11 of 14 games for the Tigers, he was able to lead the team in total tackles with 49, tackles for a loss with 12.5 and forced fumbles (2).

Birdsong is an absolute disrupter in all phases of the game. He blocked two punts on special teams and made countless other plays that did not show up in the stat sheet. He also caught seven passes for 44 yards and two touchdowns while opening up countless holes in the running game.

Birdsong helped the Tigers capture their first region title in 35 years as a junior.

“I’m very competitive, and I love to win,” Birdsong told the LaGrange Daily News back in May. “If you ask any of the (Troup) coaches, they will tell you that I hate to lose. If you really love football, winning is all that matters.”
