Gaye Ann Shipp, 68, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully with her daughter Alison and ‘grandson’ Solo by her side on June 2, 2023, following a long illness, throughout which she never lost her quick wit and sense of humor.

Gaye was preceded in death by her adored son, Bret, mother Lee, father Ed, stepfather Jack, sister Priscilla, brother-in-law Craig, her dear friend Amy and her many dachshunds.

Surviving relatives cherishing memories of Gaye are her pride and joy – daughter Alison, brother Stu, his wife Mary, nephew Donny, niece Jennifer, and her cousins Patty, Terry, Craig, Penny, Bret, Gregg, Kelly, Linda, Tom and Janice.

Gaye lived a beautiful life. A beach girl at heart, she enjoyed sun, sand and surf in Hawaii and California. She planted her roots in Georgia where she raised her children and doing what she loved, she opened the well-known Gaye Shipp Salon that was the pinnacle of her career in cosmetology.

Gaye truly had a zest for life like no other and a smile that could brighten the darkest of days.

Her heart was as big as this world and her free-spirited soul was one-of-a-kind. Gaye made many friends throughout her life and will be truly missed. To know Gaye was to love her.

We invite all to a Memorial Service in Celebration of Gaye’s Extraordinary Life to be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 22, 2023, in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, Georgia located at 401 Broad Street.

The family will receive friends in the dining room at the church following the Memorial Service.

Ms. Shipp will be laid to rest in the church’s Columbarium next to her beloved son and sister.
