Fresh off their win against Tennessee on Friday, the Troup 12u Nationals aka team Georgia did not have the same success on Saturday, losing 15-3  to Texas.

Just like the game against Tennessee, Georgia was able to jump out to a quick lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Peyton Spears scored on an error before Ezra Cook drove in the second run with a single. This time Georgia’s lead did not last long as Texas came right back and tied the game up in the top of the second.

One inning later, Texas captured its first lead of the game on a two-run homer. The Texas bats continued to pop in the rest of the inning as the team took a commanding 10-2 lead.

Georgia was able to get a run back in the bottom of the third when Wyatt Martin grounded out to drive in Tae Pope.

Texas extended its lead right back out to eight runs in the following inning. Texas was not done adding to its lead, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Georgia offense struggled to get going, ending the game with just four hits while committing four costly errors on defense.

Pope, Cook, Cameron Poe, and AJ Griffith all had a hit each for team Georgia. The team deployed seven different pitchers with none able to really limit the offense from Texas.

Georgia will play Florida on Sunday at 5:15. Another loss will see Georgia eliminated from the 2023 Dixie Youth Baseball World Series.
