The Troup 12u Nationals aka Team Georgia had a battle with Louisiana on Monday in the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss that saw the team bow out of the tournament.

It was a true back-and-forth affair with three lead changes in the game. Georgia jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Wyatt Martin hit a one-run single. The first lead change came in the bottom of the first when Louisiana scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead.

Team Georgia was unfazed and retook the lead in the top of this inning when Martin kept up his hot start to the game by driving in his second and third run of the game on a single.

Louisiana took the lead right back in the bottom of the third with two runs and never looked back. The Georgia offense could not get going over the final three innings as the team could not generate a single base runner.

Ben Brown got the start on the mound, pitching 2 2/3 innings before being replaced by Hunter Jordan, who combined to pitch a no-hitter last time out against Florida. Jordan pitched two dominant innings, not allowing a hit to go along with four strikeouts. Martin also saw time on the mound in relief.

Martin led the Georgia offense with two hits while Jordan and Tae Pope had one apiece.

Georgia finished the tournament 2-2 with wins of Tennessee and Florida and losses to Texas and Louisiana
