Mrs. Barbara Imogene Brown Eason, 92, of Newnan, Georgia, formerly of LaGrange, Georgia passed away on Aug. 4, 2023, at Magnolia Senior Living. 

She was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Heard Co, Georgia. to the late Levi and Eva Roberts Brown. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe “Boots” Eason. Daughter in law, Nita Eason, Sisters, Melrose Wynn, Melba Brown, Lucy McClain, Virginia Green, Inez Robinson, Mae Hartley, and Jackie Brown. Brothers, Happy Brown, and Coleman Brown. Beloved niece and best friend Nell Cannon. 

Jean grew up on a farm in Heard Co, Georgia. She is a graduate of Western High School. 

She went to work at the then City County Hospital, later becoming West Georgia Medical Center. She started working in Admissions, she was later promoted to supervisor of all third-party billing. Jean was the first person at the hospital to learn how to bill Medicare after its conception. When she retired, she was the front office department manager. 

She was a long-time member of Dunson United Methodist Church in LaGrange. She loved to read, sing in the church choir, work in her yard, cook and being with her family. 

She later moved to Newnan to be closer to her children and remaining siblings. 

The funeral is Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at 3 P.M. in the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel, 38 Jackson St., Newnan with Rev. Chris Smith, officiating. 

The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. 

The visitation is Tuesday between 2 P.M. and 3 P.M. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Survivors include son, Monty Eason of Newnan and Daughter, Roxanne (David) Galloway of Newnan. Grandchildren, Joey (Tina) Eason of Newnan, Nikki (Tim) Brown of Gainsville, Rob (Amanda) Leonard of Sharpsburg, Clint Eason of Newnan, Josh (Leeann) Leonard of Ft. Worth, Texas and Ashley Galloway of Eufaula, Alabama. Great Grandchildren, Ryan (Monika) Brown, Jake Brown, Zack Faulk, Kaitlyn Eason, Reese Leonard, Madison Eason, Benjamin Leonard, Sarah Imogene Leonard, and Joe Leonard. Siblings, Marion Glass, and Kenneth (Bonnie) Brown. 

Sisters in law, JoAnne Brown and Ann Cammons. Many beloved nieces and nephews.
