Coming off three straight wins, the LaGrange softball team fell just short in a non-region game against Columbus. The Grangers fell 2-1 on Monday and came down from the high of Friday’s bombardment of Riverdale.
The Blue Devils took an early lead in the bottom of the first, but the Grangers were quick to answer back in the top of the second when Harlee Overton hit a one-run single.
LaGrange had a chance to take the lead in the top of the third when they got runners on second and third after an Abby McGill double.
The Grangers could not capitalize and they were made to pay in the bottom of the third when the Blue Devils scored a run on an error.
Neither team could get much offense going from there. Not much separated the two teams as both ended the game with five hits.
Carolyne Garcia led the way for the Grangers offense going, 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Overton also reached base safely three times and also stole a base. Hudson Wood and McGill each had a hit apiece.
LaGrange is now 3-3 overall, but most importantly the Grangers are 3-0 in region play. The Grangers will travel to play Trinity Christian on Thursday in an important region clash.
