Burchell “Burch” Smith, (60), of Hogansville, passed away on Aug. 19, 2023. 

He was born on Oct. 7, 1962, to Zelma Smith and the late Paul Smith in Pineville, Kentucky.

 He was a Master Plumber by trade with over 30 years of specialized experience and worked for McKenney’s Inc. before his retirement. 

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janet Helferich.

Burch was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. Being a “Papaw” came naturally to him and he loved watching the young ones in his life, especially his one and only grandchild, grow.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and 4- wheeling with his buddies. 

He never met a stranger and was always willing to help others whether it was in sharing wisdom or helping with a plumbing project.

Survivors include his mother Zelma Smith; children, Austin Smith and his wife Taylor and Monica Anderson and her husband Josh; granddaughter, Lily Rae Anderson; siblings, Keith Smith, Timothy Smith, and Tanya Yarbrough; many loving extended family members and very dear friends.

The family will have visitation on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand from 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. The memorial service will begin at 1 P.M. with Pastor Randall Hodge officiating.
