The Troup softball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday, traveling up to Bowdon and returning with a 4-1 victory.

The team was led by strong pitching from Anna Grace Keller, who has been an ace on the mound for the Tigers this season. Keller pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and no earned runs on nine strikeouts.

She was able to work herself out of a jam in the seventh inning when Bowdon loaded the bases to preserve the win.

Keller kept the Bowdon offense in check and got just enough support from her own offense to build a lead.

The first portion of the game was a true pitcher’s duel as the Tigers did not even get their first hit until the top of the fourth when Madeira Sirmons singled.

Patience Watkins sacrificed to drive home the opening run of the game in that very same inning.

The score remained 1-0 until the Tigers were able to get some breathing room in the top of the sixth inning.

Sirmons delivered an all important double that ended up driving in the winning run plus an additional one.

Sirmons busted out of her early season slump in style, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Tigers added their fourth and final run in the sixth inning when Gracie Baker hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Sirmons.

Bowdon was able to chip into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when an error from Troup allowed a runner to score.

Camdyn Bassett also had a strong offensive showing, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Troup is now 3-5 overall and 1-2 in region play. The Tigers will be back on the road on Thursday as they travel to take on region opponents Fayette County.
