Mrs. Cherokee Margaret Veronica Buford, of LaGrange, passed away on Sept. 1, 2023. 

Mrs. Buford was born on May 1, 1948, in Key West, Florida to the late Hector Castro and Margaret Veronica Cocking Castro.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SFC Melvin Eugene Buford, Sr.

Survivors include her children, Veronica Marie Prescott, Joseph Anthony Buford and Melvin Buford (Debbie); seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one nephew; extended family.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at 3 P.M. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating. 

Interment followed at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Family received friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1 P.M.-3 P.M.
