To better understand the job demands required of entry-level professionals planning to work in the growing engineering sector, LaGrange College is inviting area companies to take part in a manufacturing summit on Friday, Sept. 15, at 1:30 p.m., in the Dickson Assembly Room at Turner Hall.

At the event, representatives of the college will be on hand to discuss the institution’s proposed academic program in engineering technology and take insight from employers on what they are looking for from students coming out of the program.

“Manufacturing is growing in LaGrange and education has to keep up with it,” said Dr. Brian Peterson, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “We want to know what the area firms need so that we can identify appropriate programming.”

To help address those needs, the college is partnering with the Troup County School System and THINC College and Career Academy and West Georgia Technical College’s engineering programs.

Companies can RSVP to the event by emailing officeofthevpaa@lagrange.edu. Names and titles of those in attendance must be included in the email.

Guests are asked to park in the lot at Vernon St. and College Ave. The pedestrian bridge can be used to walk to Turner Hall.

Questions about the manufacturing summit can be directed to Dr. Peterson by phone at 706-880-8236 or email at bpeters2@lagrange.edu.
