The Callaway softball team traveled to Landmark Christian on Tuesday and returned with a dominant 15-3 region victory.

The Cavaliers supplied a consistent dose of offense during the five-inning game.

Callaway scored in all five innings, and it started with a one-run triple from Ava Shuford.

The Cavaliers added to their lead in the top of the second inning when they scored a run on a passed ball, an error and a bases loaded walk.

Landmark got two runs back in the bottom of the second, but it did little to dampem the Cavalier spirit.

Callaway scored five runs in the top of the third to take complete control of the game.

Kyla Harris got it started with a two-run single. Keira Trone scored on a passed ball, and Harris scored on an error to make it 8-2.

Karlie Walker drove in the final run of the inning with a single.

Landmark Christian struck back with one run in the bottom of the third, but it still did little to slow down the Callaway attack.

The Cavaliers scored four runs in the top of the fourth to stretch their lead out to 13-3.

Mackenzie Toney drove in the first run with a single. Harris kept up her hot start to the game by driving in another run with a single.

She finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored.

A fielder’s choice and an error allowed two more runs to score in the fourth.

It was a similar story in the fifth inning when Callaway scored its final two runs on a passed ball and fielder’s choice.

Toney got the start on the mound and put in a strong performance, pitching all five innings while allowing just two hits on eight strikeouts.

She proved her mettle from the plate too, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and two walks.

Savannah Rice, Mikayla Blankenship and Shuford all had two hits each for the Cavaliers while Kaitlyn Williams and Walker had one apiece.

Callaway is now over .500 (7-6) for the first time this season and improved to 5-1 in region play. The Cavaliers will have a non-region game at home on Thursday against Brookstone.
