The LaGrange Fire Department has once again received internationally accredited status through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).

The department met the standards established through the CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program.

The LaGrange Fire Department is one of approximately 300 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

LaGrange Fire Chief Willie Bradfield believes the agency’s achievement of Accredited Agency status demonstrates the commitment of the department to provide the highest quality of service to the LaGrange community.

“We have been able to use the Commission on Fire Accreditation International’s process as a proactive mechanism to plan for the future of this agency and locate areas where we can improve on the quality of the services we provided,” Bradfield said in a press release.

Bradfield said preparing for the reaccreditation process was one of his first big challenges after taking over as fire chief in April.

The international accreditation has been a point of pride for the LaGrange Fire Department. The agency first received achieved this status in 2018.

The CFAI process is voluntary and provides agencies with improvement models to assess their service delivery and performance internally, who can then work with peers from other agencies to evaluate their completed self-assessment to provide the best practices and services for their citizens.

CFAI is an organization dedicated to assisting fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation to provide continuous quality improvement and the enhancement of service delivery to their communities.
