The LaGrange softball team hosted Whitewater for a crucial region matchup on Tuesday and came out on the wrong side of a 10-2 loss.

The Grangers got off to a hot start in the game when Carolyne Garcia blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the second. But that would be the final runs of the game for the Grangers, who could not come up with key hits in opportune moments.

LaGrange had other moments in the game to come away with some key runs, including loading the bases in the sixth inning.

The Wildcats quickly took the lead with six runs in the top of the second and never looked back from there, scoring three runs in the third inning and a final run in the sixth to put the game to rest.

Abby McGill led the way for the LaGrange offense, going 2-for-3 with one run scored. Kimberly Reynolds, Hudson Wood, Shelby Siggers and Garcia all had a hit apiece to round out the offense for the Grangers.

No. 1 pitcher Zoe Thompson got the start on the mound and pitched a complete game for the home team.

LaGrange (10-9) is in a bit of a funk having lost four of their last five games. The Grangers will be back in action on Wednesday on the road against Callaway before hosting region foe Starr’s Mill on Thursday.
