Dr. Terry L. Harrison, Sr. passed away Monday at his home.

He was born Oct. 29,1950, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Rosina Washington and Daniel Tinsley; and reared by Mr. Will and Mrs. Sallie Atkins.

After graduating from Rehobeth High School in Fairfax, Alabama, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in history from Alabama State University.  He received an associate degree in Recreational Management from the Community College of the Air Force, Master of Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University, Master of Science in Adult Continuing Education from Kansas State University, and a Doctor of Education from Kansas State University in Adult Continuing Education and Occupational Leadership.  

He pledged the Theta Nu Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc in March of 1974.

Terry served his country in the United States Air Force from 1975 to February 1999; and received several Medals and.

He was a member of the Saint John Community Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama where he sang in the choir and male chorus.  

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janice Rutledge Harrison; two daughters:  Mrs. Lutheria (James) Smith and Miss Crystal Harrison of Roanoke, VA; one son, Mr. Terry L. (Letitia) Harrison, Jr. of Gilbert, AZ; two daughters in love:  Sequana (Derrick) Kelley of Macomb, MI and Aries (Travolta) Rutledge of LaGrange, Georgia; ten grandchildren; six siblings:  Miss Cheryl Washington of Jamaica, NY; Cynthia Washington of New York City, NY; Emanual Washington, Carey Washington, Wayne Washington of New York; brother-in-law, Gregory Robinson of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Diane Robinson of Valley, AL; a devoted sister, Rudene (Alfred) Woodyard of LaGrange, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

The Service will be Saturday at 1 P.M. at St. John Community Baptist Church, Lanett.

The excellent care of Dr. Harrison is being provided by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
