Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The LaGrange volleyball team had a chance to celebrate four of their very own on Thursday night for senior night. Three players — Kaylee Jackson, Azalea Straughn and Makayla Wills  — and the Grangers team manager, Jocelyn Garcia, were given a warm reception before the game on Thursday evening.

Jackson has played volleyball for six years and plans to pursue a career in nursing when she graduates high school.

Jackson’s advice to upcoming players: “To be a good player you don’t have to know everything, but be open-minded and try to understand the people around you.”

Straughn has also been playing volleyball for six years and plans to pursue a degree in elementary education after high school.

Her advice for young players is “the biggest mistake that players make is getting down on themselves. Learn how to have fun in the moment.”

Wills has been playing volleyball for five years and is a right-sided hitter. She plans to attend Savannah State and eventually become a high school teacher.

Wills’ best advice for incoming players is “hard work and a good attitude will get you far, not only on the court but in life as well.”

Garcia has been a manager for three seasons and played one season with the Grangers as a junior. She plans to attend West Georgia Tech to pursue a career in cosmetology.

LaGrange will be back in action at the Dig Pink tournament next Tuesday at Troup High.
