Funeral services for Julia Ann Nixon, age 79, of Roanoke, formerly of LaGrange, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Noon at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bros. David Arrington and Mike Brewer officiating. 

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in LaGrange.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 13th.

Mrs. Nixon passed away on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include: a daughter, Regina Benefield (Keith) of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Craig, Michael, Sara, and Justin; 18 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Hand of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Craig, Justin, Brian, Michael, Daniel, and Elijah. 

A Coweta Co., Georgia native, Mrs. Nixon was born on July 18, 1944, the daughter of Doris Arrington Hill. She was Christian by faith and was a member of Midway Full Gospel Church. Mrs. Nixon ran the VFW in West Point, Georgia for over 30 years and took a tremendous amount of pride in her work. 

She enjoyed her weekly trips to Tommie Sue’s Styles to have her hair done.  

Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Arrington Hill; her husband, Rufus Leroy Nixon; a daughter, Letetia Rushing; and a sister, Debbie Hand.
