Mrs. Zera Mae Moody Sheets

Mrs. Zera Mae Moody Sheets, 95, of the Rosemont Community, LaGrange, passed into eternal life on Oct. 12, 2023. 

Mrs. Sheets was born in Cragford, Alabama (Clay County) on Jan. 13, 1928, to R.O. Moody and Zera Mae Martin Moody.  

She was one of 6 siblings, 3 stepsiblings, and 2 half-siblings.  She graduated from Cragford High School.  

Her father was a career railroad man working with the Atlantic Coast Line until his retirement. Her mother a homemaker, who played piano at the Harmony Christian Church in Cragford, Alabama.

Mrs. Sheets was a career woman holding jobs in Callaway Mills, Cosmetology and Talon Corp. before teaching the children of SBC Foreign Missionaries at Missionary Orientation, after which she became a full-time homemaker and volunteer.

She was a charter member of Rosemont Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia, she volunteered at the American Red Cross for 30 years, she volunteered at Callaway Gardens for 22 years, and she volunteered at West Georgia Hospice for 10 years.  She was in the Rosemont Choir since the church’s inception in 1968. 

Mrs. Sheets is preceded into eternal life by her husband, Thomas C. “Bill” Sheets; her sons, Barry Donald Sheets and Larry Ronald Sheets; and all her siblings.  She is survived by her children, Deborah Gail Brown (Stan), Anita Dawn Christman (Jake), and Thomas “Lynn” Sheets; her three grandchildren, Heath Wilkerson, Misty Brown Leeson, and Sarah Bohanan; her three great-grandchildren, Tyler Wilkerson, Mary Elizabeth Leeson, and Christopher Leeson.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at 2:30 P.M. in the sanctuary of the Rosemont Baptist Church.  

Pastor Max McCord, Pastor Adam Camp, and Pastor Phillip McClung will officiate the service.  

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 P.M. until service time on Sunday.

  Interment will follow at the Shadowlawn Memorial Mausoleum. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Georgia Hospice.
