The LaGrange offense could get precious little going against Wayne County in the second game of the AAAA state playoffs on Wednesday. The Grangers ultimately fell 2-1.

LaGrange’s offense could muster just three hits — two by Hudson Wood and one by Shelby Siggers.

The loss was by no means the fault of LaGrange’s starting pitcher Zoe Thompson, who pitched a strong complete game. She allowed just three hits and one earned run on four strikeouts.

The Yellow Jackets were able to generate just enough offense to edge out the Grangers, scoring a run in each of the second and third innings.

LaGrange finally got on the board in the seventh inning on a solo home run from Wood, but the Granger rally fell just short.

The Grangers will play Shaw or Spaulding on Thursday at 2 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner will book a spot in the super regional championship against Wayne County. If LaGrange makes the championship they will have to beat the Yellow Jackets twice on Thursday to book a spot in Columbus for the elite eight.
