The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced the reopening of the Flat Shoal Creek Bridge on Hamilton Road (US27).

The bridge replacement on US 27/ SR 1 over Flat Shoal Creek has been completed and the bridge is now open to traffic.

The bridge is located on Hamilton Road south of Smokey Rd. and north of Hagler Rd.

Construction of the bridge has seen delays causing one of the primary connections between LaGrange and Pine Mountain to be closed for months.

The project was let to construction to CW Matthews in March 2022. The original expected completion date was March 31, 2023, however, the bridge was delayed related to Fantasy in Lights at Callaway Gardens.

The reopening did beat recent projections, which had the expected completion date in mid-November.
