Reclassification sends LaGrange and Troup into different regions

Friday night’s game between LaGrange and Troup will be the final region football game against each other until at least 2027.
The GHSA announced the new reclassification for Georgia public sports and Troup County High will be in the AAAA classification and LaGrange in the AAA classification.
Troup will be the second smallest AAAA school with the multiplier and LaGrange will be the largest AAA school with the multiplier.
2024 will be the first year since 2015 that the two teams will not be in the same classification and by consequence the same region.
The team’s will likely still play in all major sports with games between the two no long counting towards a the region standings.
This season will feature the final region games in all major sports until at least 2027 as the reclassification will be in place for at least the next three seasons.
Callaway on the other hand was not affected by the reclassification and will stay in AA.
