Voters in Hogansville will be busy on Tuesday as three city council races are on the ballot.

With Election Day only a few days away, The LaGrange Daily News reached out to all of the candidates for one last look at each candidate. After streaming election forums on its website and writing stories on each of those events, the LDN asked each candidate five quick questions for a final look at each race.

In post three, incumbent Mandy Neese is running against challenger Bridget Phillips. Neese has served on the council since 2019.

MANDY NEESE

1. Give me your last-second pitch on why someone should vote for you.

“I think that in the last four years I’ve proven to be resourceful and useful to the city. I mean, even during COVID and everything else, the first thing I did was save the city $160,000.”

2. List your top three priorities.

“Improve the infrastructure, boost civic engagement, and keep the trajectory of building the community.”

3. Of those three, which one can you immediately make a difference in? How and why?

“I can improve infrastructure because the city does not have a city engineer. Lisa Kelly can call and depend on me to carry out an engineering task because of my education background in engineering. I’m always there and it doesn’t cost the city $1,000 to fix the issue.”

4. How would you handle a situation where the majority of the council felt differently than you, and you needed to sway their opinion?

“I don’t just go with my gut and what I do with my council is I try to provide them with factual information.”

5. What’s an interesting fact about you that voters may not know?

“I scored perfect on my SAT in high school.”

BRIDGET PHILIPS

1. Give me your last-second pitch on why someone should vote for you.

“I am all about integrity and I am here to work for the people.”

2. List your top three priorities.

“Infrastructure, mentorship, and affordable housing.”

3. Of those three, which one can you immediately make a difference in? How and why?

“Infrastructure would be my first choice. I would continue the current piping project that is being done in Hogansville to make sure that we don’t have piping issues in the future.”

4. How would you handle a situation where the majority of the council felt differently than you, and you needed to sway their opinion?

“I would dig deep and really do my research. At the end of the day, it’s about working collectively as a team.”

5. What’s an interesting fact about you that voters may not know?

“I want my voters to know that I am always accessible to them.”
