Troup High School received word today that they would have the opportunity to move down a classification for athletics from 4A to 3A according to the GHSA, and the school accepted.

This means that Troup will play in the same classification as rival LaGrange, who are also moving down to 3A.

Troup was originally put into 4A when the new classifications came out that wiped out 7A among other drastic changes. Troup was originally going to be one of the smallest 4A schools with the multiplier, but will now be the largest 3A school.

The term Troup’s 3A stay will be two years before being reevaluated. The school will know its new region opponents in the coming days.
