James “Jim” Lee Butler, 82, of LaGrange, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2023.
Jim was born April 23, 1941, to the late James and Edith Butler of Ellenwood, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Carol Ivey and Marilyn Butler.
Surviving family members include his wife of 45 years, LaRue, son Clay and daughter-in-law Christina, brother Brain Butler, brother-in-law James Ivey, several nieces, and many others who loved him very much.
Jim never met a stranger. He lit up the lives around him with laughter and love. He was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church, actively serving in local churches, most recently at Callaway Baptist. He was Scout Master of Troop 34 in LaGrange and a member of the Elm City Masonic Lodge No. 544. Jim also served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Vietnam.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday Nov. 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, Georgia and a Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from Noon to 1 P.M. prior to the service.
The internment will take place after the service at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia.
