After facing challenges in recent months due to dramatically increased rent on its original location on Gordon Commercial Drive location, Feeding the Valley has secured a new location in LaGrange to continue fighting hunger.

Feeding the Valley is a nonprofit organization committed to addressing hunger in the community by providing food to smaller food banks, churches, nonprofits and other community organizations that directly disburse the food to those in need.

Feeding the Valley provided an update on their LaGrange location and remains resolve in its mission to provide essential food support within the LaGrange.

“We understand that the families in LaGrange are grappling with the same kind of economic pressures, including soaring rent and food costs, highlighting the critical need for our food bank in this community,” said Jennifer Shawa, Director of Development for Feeding the Valley.

Feeding the Valley Food Bank announced that they have secured a smaller but affordable location on New Hutchinson Mill Road in LaGrange. This new facility will allow the nonprofit to maintain crucial operations and continue supporting partner agencies, who rely on them to provide food to serve the community and enables them to stay close to the LaGrange community while they work toward their long-term vision.

Feeding the Valley plans to move into the new facility in December after minor building retrofitting is finalized. In the meantime, the nonprofit is coordinating weekly deliveries of food orders from its Columbus location to a designated pickup point in LaGrange to ensure partner agencies don’t have to make the long trip to Columbus for pickups.

“While our first warehouse is no longer cost-effective, FTV places a high priority on maintaining a presence in LaGrange ensuring those who are suffering from food insecurity have a food source nearby,” said Frank Sheppard, President & CEO of Feeding the Valley.  “Our new warehouse on New Hutchinson Mill Road maintains our close contact with the community while we prepare for our future plans of building the food bank facility of the future in Troup County.  While this process will take three or more years, this future site will be worth waiting for and have all the capacity needed to serve the LaGrange area for many years to come.”
